Google Play

An app that I recently downloaded is no longer working or producing an error.

If you have an app that is frozen or not functioning correctly, start of by pressing the RESET button on the back of the tablet.

Turn the tablet back on and try the app again. If it still doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the app and reinstall it from Google Playstore.

To Uninstall an App:

Simply push the Settings icon on the main screen, scroll down to Apps, choose the downloaded application you wish to uninstall, click on it and there is an option to Uninstall the App.

To Reinstall an App:

Simply go to Google Playstore. Type in the App and hit Install, follow the instruction.

If the app is still not working, you would need to contact the Apps developer and inform them of the issue so they can resolve it on their end.

Can I preview an app or game before downloading it?

On many of the apps on the Google Play Store you can watch an intro video that shows how that app works.

It's most common - and arguably most useful - when it comes to games. Just click on the app you're interested in, and look for the play icon at the very top of the app listing.

Press that play icon and see whether what the developer has to show you is of any interest.

How do I get a refund from a downloaded app?

One thing you can do on the Google Play Store that you can't on the App Store is 'return' an app if you're not happy with it. That is, you can wipe it and get your money back if you opt to do so within the first two hours from downloading the app.

So how do you get your refund? Simply go into the Google Play Store app within two hours of purchasing your app, select My apps from the menu, and navigate to the app you just purchased. You should see a Refund button alongside the usual Open one. Press it and follow the instructions.

Understanding the Google Play Icon Bar

The latest version of the Google Play Store has a great new icon bar that gives you a lot of information at a glance, as well as some handy shortcuts.

To the left you have the number of downloads. If it's a million seller, you know there's got to be something in it, right? This is color coded, so if the icon's red you know at a glance that it's hot.

Next to this icon you have the average user rating (out of five), as well as the number of users who have contributed to that rating. Tap on this icon, and you'll jump straight to the user reviews themselves.

Next we have the category the app belongs to, as represented by a little representative icon. Tap this, and you'll be taken to that category in the Google Play Store.

Finally there's the Similar icon which, when tapped, assembles - you guessed it - similar apps in a simple grid should you wish to check out the alternatives.

What if I forgot my Password?

In the tablet's security settings, you can set the screen lock to be protected by a password, PIN, or pattern.   This will prevent unwanted users from being able to access the tablet.  However, if you forget your password, PIN, or pattern, there is no way to bypass this security feature without completely wiping the data from your tablet and resetting it to the factory state.

So, if you've forgotten your security code to access the tablet, first try very hard to remember it!  If that fails, you can follow the instructions in the following document to completely wipe the tablet clean and start over from scratch.  You will lose all data, apps, and history on the tablet and it will be reset its original factory condition.   Rest assured, most of the apps can be restored from the Google Play store.

Tablet (Hardware)

Can my tablet be used with my data plan from my cell phone provider?

Currently this is not an option, but you could potentially turn your cell phone into a Wifi hot spot and connect that way. You will be using Data though from your phone's data plan and depending on what you are doing that can be used up pretty quick.

The other option is to purchase our accessory that turns the mini USB into a standard USB port and you might be able to connect an internet stick for wireless Internet. But this means buying the stick and having to sign a contract and data usage.  We suggest contacting internet stick suppliers to see if this is even an option before buying any accessories.
